Hello, I am Yacine, and I will be your guide on this amazing journey that is language acquisition. I will ensure you enjoy a smooth ride, free of the usual frustration and torment that comes with learning or improving a foreign language.
I am the founder of Lingua Franca – a language institute for English and French in the heart of Währing, Vienna. As some of you may know, Lingua Franca is a term describing a language shared among speakers of other languages, and both French and English have been helping billions of people all around the world communicate with each other. As I have a passion for the different ways in which individuals interact, I decided to name the company “Lingua Franca”.
But Lingua Franca is not just a catchy name, it represents our teaching philosophy. Indeed, we truly believe that the main purpose of any language is to be functional. Our aim is therefore to help our students express themselves as freely as possible in a foreign language. We understand that different people will have different reasons for learning, and we adapt our teaching to whatever these objectives may be.
In order to do this, we build on our own, original backgrounds. We are dedicated to our students, guided by our values and powered by our love for communication. My decision of founding a language-learning centre stems from a passion for teaching, which I consider a vocation, and a desire to establish the methods I have developed over the years. By delivering specific curricula individually tailored to each student while relying on established methods and our extensive teaching experience, Lingua Franca differentiates itself from large-scale language schools and their ‘one program for all’ approach. Whether you are a beginner or looking to improve your existing French and English skills, you are at the right place. If you wish to find out more about our institute, check out our classes, workshops and tutoring in French and English for children and adults.
Let me leave you with a story about language: our story. Although we are from different countries and have very different linguistic backgrounds, we managed to overcome geographical and cultural distance through communication. All we did was talk in a language we shared and that brought us together. This is the very definition of a lingua franca and just one of the many reasons one should learn another language.
